Held at Mesa Public Library, Los Alamos, NM
Conference Room 1&2—6-7:30
Agenda
Address any concerns from attendees prior to addressing board needs/concerns—No concerns from the general public.
Need two (2) full-time recreational coordinators for the Fall 2019 season—Will advertise/recruit more heavily throughout the summer. See if we cannot find a recreational coordinator for both Los Alamos and White Rock.
How is the rec/pre-comp season going so far? Overall, pretty good but need direct input from the coaches at the end of the season. Issues/challenges/successes? Academy style practices seem to being going ok but still need more experienced coaches going forward. End-of-season recreational pizza party to be held on May 24th.
How do we recruit more referees? Need a more pro-active approach to build up referee pool. One suggestion was to hold a referee clinic in Los Alamos and pay for all interested referees up front so there are no out-of-pocket expenses. We must make this a high priority item going forward to build our referee pool. Advertise refs will be paid $20/game AND LAYSL will pay for the referee clinic in advance.
Budget update—no issues to report. Budget strong. Purchased two new U12 goals (6’ x 18’) to be put up at Western Area over the summer.
Equipment update—No inventory issues with the exception of possibly needed to expand to a larger central storage in town. Need to put up new shelves in storage over the summer.
Competitive coordinator update—Tryouts for both boys and girls comp teams to be held the Week of May 20th. Times/days posted on the LAYSL website.
Field update—need to interact with county to get new nets on all 8’ x 24’ goals and to lock them down in the appropriate locations.
Any other items/issues to address?—Discussed increasing soccer visibility in LA/WR by hosting more games at the pre-comp level. Try to coordinate with SF Northern to split games evenly between LA/WR and SF Downs.
New uniform cycle to begin Fall 2019 and run through Spring 2021 (2-year cycle). Will be the Maquina 2 uniforms.
Look to have the Varsity Boys Head Coach, Ron Blue, run a coaching clinic over the summer. LAYSL will cover the costs.
LAYSL agreed, by vote amongst the Board members, that every head competitive and pre-competitive coach will have a $100 discretionary fund to give back to kids either during or at the end of the season (pizza party, medals, etc).
Board members will meet in June to review/update LAYSL bylaws. Day/Time TBD.
