Attendance: James Colgan, Kristy Nowak-Lovato, Tom Roelfs, Mike Tom Tamashiro
This was a short meeting as the board did not have quorum.
News from the referee coordinator – It is an NMSA requirement for referees to attend an in-person training. We will need to get a list of active referees for LAYSL. James will get a list of the referees from the fall season. It is believed that there were four teenage referees above the age of thirteen years old. Duke city will be starting the spring season on March 1st.
Boys coaches would like to request an increase in the amount of tournament fees allocated to the teams. In order to do this, the board will look into increasing fees in the following fall season. An important point to bring up and pass along to players is LAYSL’s scholarship program that enables registration to be reduced by 90% and 50% depending on need.
The spring newsletter was sent out to board members and we would like feedback or suggestions. It is also important to note that LAYSL presence at county meetings regarding field conditions would be more impactful if there were increased attendance at those meetings. An idea to look into is whether LAYSL could utilize the high school auxiliary gym on occasion during the winter months.
Additionally, pueblo field has four new goals and is available for use. The recreational season is planned to start on March 31st and will run for eight weeks.
