January 6th, 2020

Posted on January 6, 2020

Attendance: David Fox, Kristy Nowak-Lovato, Megan Lee, Mike Brown, Lydell Brown, Paul Fenimore

James Colgan agreed help out as the recreational coordinator starting this Spring and beyond. Welcome James and Thank you!!!

LAYSL is in good financial shape with approximately 30k on hand for the upcoming season. Will look to bring the balance down through LAYSL equipment expenditures (up to 5k this Spring).

Two new comp teams will be playing in Duke City (HS aged boys and girls).

Indoor soccer schedule was released.

  • Three, 3-hour blocks at Pinon, Pueblo and the Middle school
  • One two-hour block at Aux on Sunday’s.

Registration process for new and recertifying referees was finalized. Need to let everyone in LA know that we need the online portion for new referees to be complete by Feb. 1st. Scheduling a referee mentoring clinic will follow shortly after this date. Need at least 10 registered or in process to have a local referee mentoring clinic.

Will contact the new NMYSA director, Rick Flores, to discuss a one-day coaching clinic for recreational coaches.

  • Target a late March date to hold the coaching clinic (weekdays are highly preferred).
  • We need 15 coaches to attend the clinic!

Continuous need to keep reaching out for qualified coaches, especially at the recreational and pre-comp levels.

Discussion on recreational league format and returning to individual teams versus academy style.

  • Need to set a hard coach-to-player ratio so we do not overwhelm coaches.
  • Looking at 8/10:1.

Discussion on working with the YMCA to help coordinate LAYSL recreational league. Paid position possibility.
