Addition of competitive program committee with Mike Brown as chair, addition of Suzi Schillaci (verbal commitment over phone) on committee to aid in fall competitive girls’ program. The pre-competitive program will look into hosting games in Los Alamos and White Rock in addition to those held in Santa Fe at the Downs.
LAYSL is following the GrassRoots training program for coaches. Need more visibility and links on the LAYSL website aiding coaches in finding and using this program.
We are looking for more referees.
Training is reimbursed and registration fee for child is reimbursed at the end of season if the referee has a child in the program and referees a minimum of 4 games in the season. If a referee doesn’t have a child and referees four games in the season, they will be reimbursed a comparable registration fee to the level of games they referee. Referees in Duke City are reimbursed $20 per game from the club and $20 from Duke City.
Discussion of field condition in White Rock.
Spiro files are in rough shape with large mole holes. Field coordinator will contact the county to discuss path forward and suggest a “community day” to work on the field. Field requests for the fall season will roll out in July.
Recreational program requested and were approved for approximately $1,000 to purchase jerseys. These jerseys are supplied to participants that register for the program. Daniel’s Café generously donated end of season ice cream coupons to the kids in the recreational program in lieu of the end of season pizza party.
Equipment:
All recreational equipment was returned and placed in the locker. Many competitive/pre-competitive coaches still have equipment as they plan to run summer practice sessions. The board has approved purchasing 3-4 uniform kits boys/girls to have on hand for instances where soccer.com is backordered or in cases where there may be financial hardships. The league is on a two-year uniform cycle. A new uniform kit will roll out in the next month.
Requests were made to enable a mechanism for an automated response when an individual registers in the program. This mechanism would notify the coaches who would be prepared for additions of players to the team and to be able to provide timely information to the parent/player. The next meeting will be held at Project Y with an invitation extended to the registrar to educate everyone on the new registration software program. A unanimous decision was made to place a note visible (at time of registering) to the registrant that states “coaches/volunteers will be reimbursed the registration fee for one of their children at the completion of the season”.
Recruitment suggestions and ideas were solicited to advertise the LAYSL soccer program to other communities such as Pojoaque, Taos and Espanola
Website upgrade.
The board has approved modernizing the LAYSL website. We are looking for a quote on the software and associated costs to host the website. In addition, the board will put together a list of items they would like to see on the website to see if the software can accommodate.
