Referee certification ideas. Utilize a QR code that would direct individuals to laysl.org referee site. Referees will be reimbursed for cost of certification and training.

The league isn’t receiving rapid updates regarding Duke City referees. This is leading to extra work for our referee coordinator. It would be nice if referees and/or coaches would send an email to let the league know who refereed their games.

Extension was filed for taxes. The board discussed whether there was a need to hire an accountant for tax help. Currently, the Treasurer would like to go forward and do the taxes without a CPA’s help. In addition, the league needs to remove old President David Fox from the LAYSL bank account. The Treasurer and President will work a path forward to get this accomplished.

League night at the New Mexico United game resulted in LAYSL receiving a percentage from the entrance fee. LAYSL received an estimate of $500 from this event.

The board discussed the possibility of moving away from TeamSnap (paid app) towards Mojo (free) app for coach communication with players and parents.

Recreational league has approximately 148 kids registered for the fall season. There was a coach training session run by Rick Flores. There were 13 coaches in attendance for the session. The board would like to plan for Rick coming down in the spring to run another session. The registrar and coordinators need to ensure that coach training is up to date.

President spoke with Wendy Parker, Field coordinator for the LA county, who stated that the decision to close the fields is typically made around 3:00 pm. The major determination for field closing is unsafe conditions. It was discussed that the decision is not all encompassing and there will be an LA closure decision as well as a WR closure decision. The amount of gopher holes at Overlook and North Mesa fields is starting to be overwhelming This was also discussed with the county. The current cost to the county has been around $6,000 per month for gopher trapping.

Updates for girls program. New coach joined U13 team (Brooke). U9/U10 precomp team has 27 girls split into 2 teams. 4 girls have been joining the U10 comp team rotating through practices and some at games.

LAYSL and LAHS held a SALA World Cup viewing event.

The LAHS girls soccer program hosted a 90 minute soccer session as their service to the community act. There was approximately 60 kids in attendance at the session. Many of the kids in attendance were LAYSL players. Girls LAYSL teams are going to Socctoberfest tournament in Farmington. U10, U12, and U13 teams will be going to the tournament.

The board would like to check in to see if we have goalie jerseys for the younger teams.

Teams are going to Socctoberfest tournament in Farmington. U10, U12, and U13 teams will be going to the tournament.

Boys program updates. The U11 program has split into two teams with a total of 18 players. The U12 roster is also in two teams and has low numbers. There are times when kids are playing two games to fill the roster and ensure the game is able to be played. There are advanced players from the U9/U10 precomp program that have been asked to join a U10 comp practice when it doesn’t conflict with their rostered team practice.

U13/U14 comp and U12/U13 precomp teams are doing well.

Discussion on the weatherbug app. This app has a lightning strike map and can help determine canceling or postponing practice. When lightning has struck within 10 miles, players, coaches and parents should be off the field for a minimum of 30 minutes.

Board looking into ideas for fields that could be utilized as the conditions of the current fields are very poor. There is a grassy field behind the canyon complex however, there isn’t a fenced area so this could be good for the young recreational teams. There is also a large grassy field by East Park that could be available. There are no goals at these locations so pop up and bow net goals would need to be used.

The county would like to stress to call 505-662-8222 (police dispatch) if it is seen that a dog has defecated on the fields. Do not take this matter into your own hands and confront the dog owner. There will be signs posted to ban dogs from being on the soccer fields.
